2017 Open House

September 25, 2017

Thank You to Everyone Who Contributed to the Open House

We had beautiful weather as the backdrop for our first Open House on Saturday. It was a day filled with discovery, enthusiasm, shared ideas and much feedback as members of the public got a chance to check out plans and vote on options for the development of The Old PA Pike Trail.

Visitors also had the opportunity to take a free guided bus tour to the Sideling Hill area of the path, experience a lighting show in one of the long tunnels, and enjoy great food and music all day.

Many volunteers put forth strong efforts to make this event a success and gather feedback for forging the future of this destination in Bedford and Fulton counties.

Live Music at the Open House Event

On Saturday, September 23rd, attendees of The Old PA Pike Open House will be treated to live music for free as local artists perform at the host location (outside the former Ramada Inn, Breezewood, PA). The music will began around 10 AM with Tom Fix and continue through the early afternoon with the duet Free Donuts! (Kenny Fetterman and Michal Wiles).

Guitarist/vocalist Tom Fix has been performing around the Bedford area for about three years. His influences range from Stevie Ray Vaughan to Ozzy Osbourne to Aaron Lewis to his own father, Scott Fix (who Tom says would always have loud music playing in the house). Tom performs live a mixture of cover songs and originals and he recorded his debut album in 2015.

Kenny Fetterman is a multi-instrumentalist who likes to play all genres of music both covers and originals, including folk, jazz, brit-pop, sacred, and blues. His influences include Jack Johnson, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Johnny Cash and Jim Croce. Combined with Michal Wiles, Free Donuts! has been compared to esteemed couple-duos like The Civil wars and Johnny Cash with June Carter.

When you come to the event on Saturday, be sure to bring a folding chair so you can sit and enjoy the entertainment as well as some great food and refreshments from the various vendors.
